This fall Meeting Street in Norton Commons picked up two new places to sit down for dinner, plus a dessert shop scheduled to open Halloween week. All three came from businesses moving into nearby spaces or growing next door. Gustavo's Mexican Grill moved first, early in the year. House of Marigold took Gustavo's old space and used it to serve dinner for the first time anywhere. Crust & Crumb's founder opened a French bistro next door to her bakery. And the Peach Cobbler Factory is filling in on the same block as House of Marigold.
If the street looks busier after dark lately, this is the order it happened in.
Gustavo's Moved Down the Street First
The chain started in March. Louisville Business First reported that Gustavo's Mexican Grill had closed its original Norton Commons restaurant to reopen "in a much larger space just down the street."
The restaurant's own location page now gives its address as 10701 Meeting St., with hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Gustavo's never left the neighborhood. It moved a few doors down and left a ready restaurant space empty on the same block.
The Old Gustavo's Space Became Marigold's First Supper
That space was 10715 Meeting St. In September, WAVE and WDRB reported that House of Marigold would open its second restaurant there, in the former Gustavo's. The original goal was August. Renovation delays pushed it back, and the restaurant had its grand opening in mid-October.
The menu is what makes this location different. Husband and wife Kris and Adrienne Cole opened House of Marigold in Middletown in 2023, and it became a brunch favorite. The Courier Journal's opening-week report notes that Southern Living named it the "Best Restaurant in Kentucky in 2024." Norton Commons is the first House of Marigold to serve dinner. The supper menu has eight dishes priced from $20 to $29, including:
- Chicken Fried Lobster Tail & Waffle, with hot honey butter and maple syrup
- Oxtail & Johnny Cakes
- Country Chicken and Dumplings
- Crispy Fish & Grits
- A Hot Honey Fried Chicken Platter, the one place on the supper menu where the Middletown biscuits show up
The "for the table" section brings over the honey cornbread and build-your-own deviled eggs from the brunch menu. There's also a mushroom dish made with lion's mane, shelf and oyster mushrooms from Frondosa Farms in Simpsonville, and that mix will change with the season.
The restaurant also added craft cocktails and a bigger coffee program. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. That means a single address now covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Courier Journal described a phrase written above the open kitchen, "No rain, no flowers," which fit a drizzly opening week.
Brisé Opened Next Door to the Bakery
Down Meeting Street, the same thing happened at a smaller scale. Debi Hatton opened Crust & Crumb bakery in Norton Commons two years ago. On Sept. 16 she opened Brisé next door at 6301 Meeting St., according to The Courier Journal's September restaurant roundup.
Brisé is a modern French bistro of about 1,700 square feet. The opening news release described it as "a refined, sophisticated dining destination with an intimate atmosphere suited to date nights, celebrations and special occasions." It serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday and has outdoor seating. The menu includes steak frites, French onion soup and seasonal dishes made with local ingredients. Baguettes, desserts and house-made ice cream are made on site, every meal comes with bread service, and some desserts use Kentucky ingredients such as sorghum. Small chef-selected bites come out between courses, and there's a chef's table option.
Afternoon tea on select weekends is planned next, and brunch may follow later. The name means "breeze" in French, and The Courier Journal's Oct. 9 review points to the light green scalloped awning on Meeting Street as the restaurant's calling card.
Marigold and Brisé got to dinner from opposite directions. One stretched a brunch kitchen into supper, and the other grew a dinner room beside a daytime bakery. Either way, two businesses that already had customers on Meeting Street now stay open into the evening.
Dessert Moves In Between Them
The last piece is still coming. The Peach Cobbler Factory is set to open at 10713 Meeting St., Suite 101, right between the new Gustavo's and the new House of Marigold. WHAS11 reports that the opening is scheduled for Halloween week and that hours, delivery and ordering details will be announced closer to the date.
The 1,565-square-foot shop will offer dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering, plus a patio. The menu covers the brand's peach cobblers and banana puddings, cookies, brownies, cinnamon rolls, cheesecakes, shakes and some savory items. Dessert flights let guests pick four cobbler or pudding flavors. It will be the company's third Louisville-area shop, after Middletown and Mall St. Matthews.
Managing partner Steve Conaway connected the timing to the holidays in the company's release, as quoted by The Courier Journal: "We're excited to open in time for the holiday season and give families more dessert options for Thanksgiving and other celebrations." He also called Norton Commons "a destination for local shopping and dining."
Once it opens, the 107xx block reads like this, walking up the street:
- 10701 Meeting St. Gustavo's Mexican Grill, in its larger space.
- 10713 Meeting St., Suite 101. The Peach Cobbler Factory, scheduled for Halloween week.
- 10715 Meeting St. House of Marigold, serving dinner in the former Gustavo's space.
Brisé and Crust & Crumb are a separate pair at 6301 Meeting St.
What a Weeknight Looks Like Now

Brisé's closing times haven't been published in the reports above, so check before you go. Peach Cobbler Factory's hours haven't been announced yet.
The Farmers Market's Final Sundays
The new dinner options arrive just as a familiar daytime routine ends for the year. The Norton Commons Farmers Market's 2026 season runs through Nov. 1, Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. at 6301 Moonseed St., according to its Kentucky Proud listing. That leaves Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, the Sunday right after Halloween. On that last market day you can pick up a cobbler flight at the new shop if it has opened by then and finish with dinner at Brisé or House of Marigold. Brisé serves dinner on Sundays and House of Marigold is open until 9 p.m.
One more Marigold location is on the way. The Courier Journal reports that the Coles' NuLu restaurant at 624 E. Market St. is expected to open by late 2026, and the Norton Commons supper menu previews what it will serve.
When a business moves down the block and another moves into the space it left, the neighbors notice. The same goes for homes on streets like this one.
